Production
Zeppelin Studio teamed up with Mi’pu’mi Games to support Question and THQ Nordic in their endeavor to bring a new kind of South Park game to life: a 3D multiplayer action adventure running on Unreal Engine 4. In close collaboration with Question we managed to create a balance between a visually pleasing and smoothly running experience that targets 30 fps in 1080p on the Nintendo Switch. Apart from optimizing general graphics, NPC physics, and CPU usage, we focused on a resource-efficient P2P multiplayer implementation for the Nintendo Switch console. The list of our tasks involved:
- Technical lead of the Nintendo Switch port
- Multiplayer optimizations and integrations to Nintendo Switch Online feature
- Technical support of the patch and DLC creation for the Nintendo Switch
- General CPU and GPU optimizations
- Collision and physics optimizations
- NPC optimizations with focus on large amounts of enemies
- Implementation of the gamepad support in the game UI
